Out of Touch?

Journal Entry: Sat Jan 24, 2009, 11:38 PM
Firstly, Sorry.

I know I haven't uploaded any new work in a long time. After all I'm the one who didn't upload it. I do realise that there may be just a couple people out there who are disappointed for a split second when they realise there is still no new stuff up on my page. Lucky you all have lives to go back to, to distract you from that bitter disappointment you feel in that fleeting moment.

Why I'm writing this is to let you all know that I still love my photography. However I do it for myself and no one else. I do admit I can be the worst of attention whores at times but in reality I prefer the photos of mine many of you dislike.

This prolonged break of mine is because I forced photography on myself for a while there (collage wasn't a help) and now I'm just letting my camera air out a bit (and get a little dusty.)

I'm back at collage soon and I'm sure that will mean more photos. Hopefully I will feel like uploading them.

Peace out peoples and thanks for your continued support.
Mike

DD for me? Do I have too?

My first Daily Deviation

Just a super quick one.
Na don't get me wrong I always wanted to say that I got a DD. :P but now that I have ONE lets keep it that way hehe... I'm super flattered that I did get one and so happy with the support I've received. One thing you forget about till you get one is that you can only send so many messages before DA cuts you off. I think it is a spammer prevention system but it makes it hard when you are trying to.... well.... spam your supporters with love mail that reads a little something like this.

.....

Thanks so much for your support I really appreciate it.

Yes this is another one of my "copy-paste" messages simply 'cos when I found out I got a DD I freaked a little simply 'cos I've never been the best at replying to messages.

chances are you :+fav:ed my new DD in which case thanks so much :) If however you :+fav:ed something else thanks equally as much and if neither of these then you either watched me (wooo -love- thanks) or you requested a print (Flattered :D -note me-)

yeah that covers it :D

love you for the support.

.....

So if you haven't got any mail like this then I guess you will have to wait a day or two 'cos your a little further down the list and I can't reply to you all in one sitting -sheds a tear-

Thanks heaps to `Manu-80 for suggesting me and ^estudio for featuring me.

now that I'm set on getting all the replies done DA no longer seems like a chore I have to get around to and i'll be more active again ;)

:peace: out

ME ME ME

Woo. lol haha... yeah...

hmm not a good start to the journal.
Oh well it's been a pretty full couple of weeks with all kinds of Uni work and no paying work. Also I had My 21st birthday last Monday which was great. My dad gave me my grandfathers old Brownie camera which was really special as neither myself or my father ever knew him as he died in the war. It will prove a challenge to put film through it though as it uses a discontinued 116 Autographic Film. I might just botch up some 120 film to put through it. Even so it's a little tired and the shutter isn't 100% reliable. None of which matters as it was a gift of sentiment more than anything. I simply would love to see a frame or two come out of it for sentimental reasons.

My work is slow in progress as many of you would have noticed. Not much coming out these days but I still take a few frames when I can. I'm thinking of doing a series on kids in the botanical gardens. Not that I don't look like enough of a perv. as it is. I'm considering getting myself some nice new wide angle glass as well. I invest way too much into my photography. I hope we never break up I would be so broken hearted.

Will be uploading more soon. Hope you all have the time to check it out.

thanks,
Mike.

My Work

Hope you all liked my newest images. They are the first ones I've developed from this camera this century so It comes to My attention that there are some serious sharpness issues. Yeah I have mould in my lens. So I'm either going to have to get a new lens or just a whole new camera. which seems like the more likely of the options as the camera is a little makeshift as it is. I'm not a big fan of aperture priority and that is the only mode it has. Anyway I'm going to be continuing my street work none the less. Also trying to get my hands on some Darkroom equipment. That's when the fun begins.

My Work

It's been a little while since I uploaded anything new. This is not due to a lack of shooting. Fortunately I've had plenty of time to do a bit of shooting for my own work. I have however been doing it on film. No I don't have a dark room or any processing chems so I have been doing it on C-41 process film so I have to get the lovely =p0isonphotography to develop it for me when she goes to work. My work flow does need a little work but I assure you there is some more good Street Photography coming to my gallery soon.

In the mean time I will upload some of my Uni studio work. Not inspiring works by any means but they look good. Depends what your into I guess I'm sure some of you will love them.

Thanks

Thanks to everyone who watches me and checks out my work I have reached 14,000 page views. This is so encouraging to me and really makes me want to keep getting out there and shooting. Not that I wouldn't if you didn't like my work =P but It does make me feel good about my work.

On that note I have been trying to find new ways to put more into the community. Myself and Kierra (=p0isonphotography) have, as many of you already know, been running the club *DevMeetSyd but that is pretty exclusive to people who live in or near Sydney Australia. If any of you have ideas of ways I can help the community or need help with something yourself please feel free to note me. Just wanna keep the community alive.

Oh and any Street Photographers out there make yourself known... we seem to fade into the background on DA all too much. I know blending in helps on the street but it doesn't on DA =P

Now For a Little Street Photography Feature
Just some very new street images on DA that I thought deserved a mention.
